British Railways - Steam in the 1960's

by Dave Sallery

Two black fives at the east end of Chester station in December 1965.

This site is a selection of some of the photos I took while in pursuit of the last of British Railways steam locomotives during the mid 1960's.  The intervening years haven't been kind to my memory, my records and in some cases my negatives!  All of the photos were taken in 1965, 66 and 67 when steam was rapidly being phased out and clean locos were a rarity.
