The last public run of an A4 pacific, Glasgow Buchanan Street to Aberdeen

3rd September 1966.

This special train was organised by the Scottish Region and stops were made at Stirling, Perth, Forfar - where there was a run past - and Aberdeen.  The train was hauled in both directions by 60019 "Bittern".

Three photos of the run-past at Forfar.  This station was on the line from Stanley Junction to Kinnaber Junction, avoiding Dundee.  It was closed as a through route shortly after.

 


Ferryhill shed in Aberdeen was open to the public for the day.  On shed were 60019, 60024 "Kingfisher" and 60009 "Union of South Africa"


60019 ready to leave Aberdeen for the last time in B.R. service.
