Alsbahn
Alsbahn is a fictitious layout with scenery copied from many photographs taken in Switzerland and Austria. It works automatically using Heathcote Electronics modules and infra-red detectors. These detectors reflect back from the underside of vehicles triggering other home made electronics and signals. Where possible track has been super-elevated. The working cable-car is a replica of one near Freiburg in Germany. The scenery is mainly carved from dense polystyrene and interwoven strips of card covered in newspaper. There are seven locos in use continuously. It is basically a board full of electronics with a small railway on top. The size of the layout is 8 feet x 3 feet + rear working space.
